Loft tour

Well hello! It’s been a long time since I wrote a post but don’t think I’ve forgotten about you.

I’ve kept meaning to get back on the blogging treadmill but somehow just kept falling off.

But here I am again.

This time last year The Teaspoon House was still in the midst of being semi-destroyed & improved in equal measure as the loft conversion was in process.

It was messy.

Now we are well and truly on the other side, we are really pleased to went ahead and survived the pain of explaining to builders that we quite liked our house so could they refrain from putting any more feet through ceilings, asking why water was coming through the ceiling (not the one that had a foot through it) and such other delights.

We’ve decorated, hauled furniture up a narrow-ish staircase and remained undecided about what to put on the walls and here is the finished room…

A huge skylight  (fitted with blackout blind for sleeping!!)  fills the room with light. Under neath we put a snuggler chair from John Lewis clearance sale to create a cosy reading nook.

We’re still on the lookout for a lamp and maybe small table to go in the space but so far haven’t found anything that works.

There is also access to the eaves storage, where we keep suitcases, decorating things and Christmas decorations.

The door on the left is to the en-suite bathroom.

wardrobe, loft

Looking on from the snuggler sofa, you can see the fitted wardrobes – more on those another day, dressing table and bed.

The curtains are from Laura Ashley and were in a sale. I added more black out fabric to them as we had these before the shutters were installed so at night the room is really dark and we sleep well.

Just around the corner is the bed with bedside tables that we’ve had for about 10 years from Argos with lamps from Wilkinsons. The Orla Kiely bedding is from TK Maxx.

So there’s your super quick tour of the loft room!
